The Next Generation | Financial Planning When It Feels Far Away

I was introduced to financial planning earlier than I ever expected. After my father passed away, I found myself sitting on the other side of the table as a client, trying to make sense of something that felt overwhelming and unfamiliar. At the time, I didn’t know what questions to ask or even where to begin.

Fast forward a few years, and I now have the unique perspective of being on both sides. After being a client of Private Wealth Solutions, I was given the opportunity to join the team. Every day, I continue learning just how valuable it is to have a plan in place and a team guiding you through it.

For many in the next generation (those of us in our mid-20s to mid-30s), financial planning can feel like something that belongs in the distant future. We’re focused on building careers, raising families, and figuring out what life looks like. Retirement? It can feel hard to picture.

What I’ve come to realize is that financial planning isn’t about having everything figured out right now. It’s about starting the conversation and having the right people in your corner. You don’t need to know all the answers, that’s what a team is there for.

At Private Wealth Solutions, we work closely with our clients in a very personal way. It’s not just about numbers or accounts, it’s about your life. We sit down together to talk about what’s changing, what’s coming up, and what matters most to you and your family. Whether you’re just getting started or have been planning for years, those conversations make all the difference.

For those of us just beginning our journey, the most important step is simply starting. It’s easy to look back and wish you had begun sooner, but it’s even more important to recognize that starting today can make a meaningful impact on your future.

If you have children or young adults in your life, I encourage you to include them in these conversations. Financial planning doesn’t have to be intimidating, and it’s never too early to begin learning.

You don’t have to navigate it alone. Whether you’re just getting started or helping guide the next generation, we’re here as a resource every step of the way.
